Lawmakers discussed top environmental threats such as invasive species and nutrient pollution


CHICAGO, IL. – State Representative Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) joined a bipartisan group of more than 20 state legislators from five states at the 2017 Great Lakes Forum organized by the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators (NCEL) in Chicago on November 3rd and 4th.

“Participating in this forum provided me the opportunity to collaborate with other policymakers from states in the Great Lakes region on how to preserve and strengthen Illinois’ greatest natural resource; Lake Michigan and all the tributaries that supply drinking water to local families,” Rep. Bellock said. “Ecological threats to Lake Michigan are constantly evolving; from pollution to different types of invasive species. It is imperative that we work together in a proactive manner with other Great Lakes states to protect our water for future generations.”
WESTMONT– State Representative Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) reminds constituents that the last day to donate items for USO care packages to benefit the men and women of the U.S. military serving at home and abroad this holiday season is Monday, November 27.

Items can be donated during normal business hours at Representative Bellock’s district office in Westmont on Monday-Friday between 9:00am – 5:00pm at the Westmont Centre, 1 S. Cass Avenue. The donation box is located in front of Representative Bellock’s office, Suite 205.

Interested residents are welcome to either stop by or call ahead to schedule a donation time at (630) 852-8633. The last day donated items will be accepted is Monday, November 27.
CHICAGO— Today State Representative Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) joined House Republican Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) and Illinois Public Health Director Dr. Nirav Shah joined dozens of advocates and members of the healthcare community on Diabetes Awareness Day to announce the state’s Diabetes Action Plan.

 “We recognize that diabetes is a huge epidemic in our state and our nation,” said Rep. Durkin. “It is very important that we are proactive and try to help those who are most at risk for Type 2 diabetes get the education and treatment they need. It’s also important that we educate parents and family members on the warning signs of Type 1 diabetes to begin treatment as soon as possible.”

The goal of the plan is to reduce the social and economic burden of diabetes on our state by providing knowledge, education and access to care. The plan will contain three strategic priority areas:
