Rep. Bellock participates in annual "Talkie Trot" in Elmhurst

State Representative Patti Bellock joined former Elmhurst Mayor and DuPage County Board member Pete DiCianni on Sunday at the annual "Talkie Trot" Family Fun Walk benefiting The Center for Speech & Language Disorders, a 501 (c)(3) to help children with autism and other disabilities who have serious speech issues and need services.

Pete DiCianni started the Talkie Trot years ago and is a true advocate for children. Pete is also largely responsible for helping pass the Autism Insurance bill in Illinois as well as Brianna's  Law and the Able  Act.

Here are a few statistics you should know:

  • 1 in 5 children receive services for speech and language disorders.
  • 1 in 50 children have an autism spectrum disorder.
  • 1 in 5.5 children encounter reading problems.
