Rep. Bellock Named “Guardian of Small Business”

WESTMONT – State Representative Patti Bellock (R- Hinsdale) has been recognized with the "Guardian of Small Business" award by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). The NFIB is Illinois' leading small business association, representing 11,000 businesses across the state. Every two years the organization scores legislators based on key small business votes they take in Springfield. Rep. Bellock received the award for her 100% positive voting record during the 2015-2016 legislative session.

“I am honored to accept this award and proud to stand up for the men and women of our small business community, the backbone of the Illinois economy.” Rep. Bellock said. “I would like to thank NFIB Illinois for their advocacy on behalf of small businesses here in the western suburbs and across the state.”

Representative Bellock has also been recognized with the “Champion of Free Enterprise” award by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce for her 100% voting record “in defense of free enterprise and the furtherance of economic opportunities for Illinoisans” during the current 99th General Assembly (2015-2016).

As noted in the “Starting Your Business in Illinois Handbook”, small businesses make up 98% of all Illinois businesses and employ nearly half of the workforce. Last year, the Illinois economy grew at an annual rate of 1.6%, which was slower than the overall U.S. growth rate of 1.9%.
