WESTERN SPRINGS – Local parents and students are invited to attend a free town hall meeting to learn about the response of local law enforcement agencies to stem the rise of heroin abuse among suburban teens and young adults in a panel discussion entitled “Heroin: The Suburban Secret”. The event is sponsored by State Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) in partnership with the Western Springs Police Department. 

The town hall meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, at Lyons Township High School’s South Campus, Performing Arts Center, located at 4900 South Willow Springs Road in Western Springs.

The panel discussion will feature the following law enforcement leaders:

Dennis Wichern, DEA, Special Agent in Charge, Chicago Division
Brian Sexton, Chief, Narcotics Prosecution Bureau, Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office
Mark Piccoli, Director of DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMEG)
Sergeant Dan Albrecht, Western Springs Police Department

Local residents will also be able to ask questions of the panelists and make their voice heard.
OAK BROOK – Local residents are invited to attend a Budget Town Hall meeting Sept. 8 in Oak Brook with State Sen. Chris Nybo (R-Elmhurst) and State Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale).

The Budget Town Hall meeting is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sept. 8, at the Oak Brook Village Hall, Samuel Dean Board Room, located at 1200 Oak Brook Road in Oak Brook. The Budget Town Hall Meeting is free and open to the public.

Sen. Nybo and Rep. Bellock will provide an update on the state budget, including a discussion on state spending, taxes, education, human services and more. Constituents will have an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback on issues of concern. Light refreshments will also be provided.
WESTMONT– State Representative Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) will host six town hall meetings throughout the district in the month of September, in a schedule released by her office today.  All events are free of charge and open to the public.

CHICAGO– State Representative Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) participated in a small meeting of 10 women legislative leaders from around the country to talk about women's' and family issues with Melinda Gates at the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) annual summit at McCormick Place on August 10. Gates is an accomplished businesswoman, renowned philanthropist and wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

Together with her husband, Mrs. Gates is the co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the largest private foundation in the world. Their work focuses on helping lift the world’s poorest people out of hunger and poverty; harnessing advances in science and technology to save lives; and, here at home, improving high school and postsecondary education for children throughout the United States.

In their meeting, Rep. Bellock shared ideas with Mrs. Gates on public policy regarding women and children; including the opportunities and challenges faced by state legislators in improving the health and prosperity of families here in Illinois.
