SPRINGFIELD – Deputy House Minority Leader and State Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) has been named Spokesperson on the two House committees dealing with Human Services, giving her an increased role in shaping policy and advocating for the most vulnerable families in Illinois. In addition, Rep. Bellock has been reappointed Chief Budget Negotiator for the House Republican Caucus, a role that takes on greater importance this year under new Governor Bruce Rauner.
Committee announcements for the 99th General Assembly were announced today as the Illinois House of Representatives prepares to reconvene this week. In addition to the aforementioned assignments, Rep. Bellock has also been appointed to serve on the House Committees on Financial Institutions, Labor & Commerce, and both the Special Committee on Health & Healthcare Disparities and the Special Committee on Special Needs Services.
A recognized expert on state budget, Medicaid and disability issues, Rep. Bellock shared her priorities for the coming year, emphasizing the opportunity for bipartisan action in 2015.
“Illinois’ most vulnerable families stand to be impacted the most by the difficult budget decisions that will need to be made this spring,” Bellock said. “I remain committed to ensuring that we preserve a strong safety net for those who need it most; including the disabled, children with special needs, seniors on fixed incomes, homeless veterans and families that are struggling to provide basic shelter and food for their children. Together we can restore the strength of the Illinois economy without sacrificing the needs of those families in danger of falling through the cracks.”
Rep. Bellock serves the 47th District, which includes portions of Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Westmont, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Burr Ridge and Western Springs.
